Corrections Policy

This page is the corrections policy for OctoProbe News, published by Redwing Technologies LLC. An error of fact is fixed in the story and noted in public.

How to Request a Correction

Email press@octoprobe.ai with “Correction” in the subject line. Include the story link, the passage in question, and, where you can, a source that shows the right information. The standards and corrections editor reviews every request and replies. That seat is listed on the Masthead and is not yet assigned to a named editor beyond the newsroom’s named journalist, Colin Aamot, Investigative Journalist & OSINT Domain Expert and Founder of Redwing Technologies.

How Are Corrections Handled?

A correction changes the text and adds a dated note saying what was wrong and what is right. A clarification revises a passage that was accurate but could mislead. An update adds new information and marks the story “Updated.”

  • Corrections. When a story contains a factual error, the text is fixed and a dated note is added at the end, saying what was wrong and what is right.
  • Clarifications. When a passage is accurate but could mislead, it is revised and a dated clarification is added.
  • Updates. When new information arrives, such as a response to the reporting, it is added and the story is marked “Updated” with the date.
  • Minor Fixes. Spelling, grammar, formatting, and broken links are fixed without a note when they do not change meaning.
  • Removals. Stories are not deleted to hide mistakes. Personal information may be removed for safety or legal reasons, and the story says so when that happens.

Every story shows its last-modified date in its page data, so readers and search engines can see when it changed.
